I am in need of a personal loan of about $50,000; my husband and I have hit a few bumps in the road so we have bad credit but I would like to use the money to purchase a car which I am in dire need of and to pay off credit card bills so we can get back on track. I have alot of equity in my home, i have a good job, etc; my only problem is bad credit. I want to pay off all my bills with just a small equity loan.

Have bad credit but need to get a long term personal loan.
I currently have an auto loan with Bank of America. It was a 60 month term loan which I only have two payments left on. My credit has gone down to the mid to low 600′s over the years since I first got the loan however, I have NEVER made a late payment on my auto loan and am intending to make the two remaining payments on time to pay it off. I am needing to buy a new car and was wondering if I should apply for financing through BofA again. From talking to a few friends in the auto loan and auto sales industry, they have told me that BofA would most likely want to keep me as a customer based on my good history of auto payments with them and that the only difference would be that my interest rate will be higher because my overall credit score went down. They also told me that in the auto loan industry, they look at auto loan history on your credit report separate from the rest of your credit history. And since I have been good on my auto payments, it’ll count in my favor when applying for another auto loan. Any light anybody can shed on this situation will help. I’m not sure to try with BofA again, or just look for a company that finances bad credit auto loans. I am currently employed full time, so income won’t be a problem. Thanks!
